For instance, there's a scene in his documentary Bowling for Columbine in which he says to a man in a Lockheed Martin plant, "Columbine happened down the road from this missile factory. Don't you think there's a connection?" When he said this, I thought to myself, "My heavens, it's all so clear! There's a connection between nuclear weapons and the Trench Coat Mafia!" That is, until the guy to whom the question was posed looked at Michael Moore as if he'd just vomited a live snake onto the floor and said, "Not really. We make nuclear weapons to prevent the Soviets from attacking us, and down the road, some kids went insane and shot up a bunch of innocent people." I've mentioned this before, but....
I've worked at that plant Moore is referring to. They DO NOT make nuclear weapons or the missiles to carry them. The next time you see a NASA satellite go up, though, there's a good chance they either made or will operate that satellite.
This from a reply to that post by mattj: The Lockheed plant in Columbine takes old ballistic missiles and refits them to launch civilian communication satellites into orbit. No weapons are made at the Lockheed plant, so there's no "poetic" connection between nuclear weapons and the school, unless you count the dismantling of nuclear weapons as related to school shootings.
Moore is a large bag of flatulence who has neither the intelligence nor the integrity to get his facts right. |
