Look for two possible October surprises from the GOP. Osama is suddenly captured or a terrorist attack hits the U.S. Either scenario would likely give Bush a slight boost. Perhaps enough to win the election if it's close. Another factor might be a VP change to shake things up. That would be a good move on Bush's part.
