We liberated Iraq in just the same way that we liberated Germany from the Nazi regime.

For whatever that's worth.

But if I were to critique that statement I would take issue with another inference within it. We never "liberated" the German's from anything. We, along with the Russians, English and other allies, DEFEATED the Germans. My reading on the German people indicates that they weren't unwilling conscripts in the war; they were willing sponsors of it. The young, the old, the wealthy and the poor all united in a nationalistic fervor and supported the Nazi government. I suspect there was far more, and far more passionate, support for the Nazi war efforts than you see today in America for the Iraqi war effort.

So maybe you can explain to me how "liberat[ing] Germany from the Nazi regime" applies to the defeat of a Nazi government that the German people supported?
