My guess is that bin Laden stopped trying to kill Saddam, after the first Gulf War (certainly after he declared war on the United States). There is plenty of documentation of contact between to two groups. Some say that bin Laden vetoed a real partnership, some say Saddam. If you can find any information that shows that bin Laden or Saddam tried to kill each other in the past 6 years, I'd be very interested in reading it.
