Hi Neocon; Re: "It took the dropping of two atomic bombs to break the will of the Japanese to resist. I am not predicting what will turn the trick [breaking the will to fight of Islamic Fundamentalism], or how hard it is, right at the moment, I am merely pointing out that it is doable."
The Allies always knew that the will of the Axis could be broken by invading and occupying their territory. So there was always a plan for victory. Even if no atomic bombs had been built, the US would have invaded and occupied Japan, and that way won the war. The atomic bombs were useful, but they were not the only way we had of winning the war, and that was clear from the very beginning.
But here you appear to admit that, contrary to our experience in WW2, the neoconservatives have no plan for winning the war on terror.
So come on. Tell me what your plan is to break the will of the Islamic Fundamentalists. It is clear now that invading and occupying Iraq didn't do it. Let me generalize my question. Before, I asked "what will break their will". Now I ask: "what do you plan on doing to break their will"?
If you cannot answer what you plan on doing to break their will, then you must admit that not only do you not have an "exit plan" for Iraq, you also have no "victory plan" for the war on terror. It's not like this would be a surprise. The neoconservatives dragged us into Iraq by lying to us about their motivations for the war. Their motivation was to remake the Middle East (so that it would be safe for Israel and oil production), while they bamboozled the American public into fighting because of nonexistent or insignificant WMDs. They then got cooler heads in the Administration to sign up by marketing the war as an easy "liberation" instead of a difficult "occupation". The effect of their lies was that the Administration had no occupation plans and ended up with a bungled job that made an already impossible duty into a fiasco.
