Hi Neocon; Interesting plan for the fight against Terrorism. Funny you didn't mention Iraq, LOL.

A few posts ago you were talking about winning the war by destroying their will to fight. Now you're talking about using attrition. This is just like before the Iraq war, when the neocons sold the American public a promise of an easy liberation. Turns out that all we got was a difficult occupation. Funny that they didn't talk much about "attrition" before the Iraq war, LOL.

The problem with attrition is that it didn't work for the Israelis and it won't work for us.

This reminds me of how we used attrition to defeat Communism in Vietnam.

Oh, my bad. We planned to use attrition to defeat the Communists in Vietnam. What actually happened is that they used attrition to defeat the ARVN.

The same thing is going on in Iraq.

Attrition only works when you have more stomach for the losses than the other guy. When the fight is in the other guy's territory, and he badly outnumbers you, he generally has the advantage in terms of will to accept losses.

And how is the battle shaping up now??? American opinion has swung to a majority saying that the war was a mistake. That's a beginning of a loss of will.

It's hardly a surprise. Guerilla wars are ugly things. No great power has ever won one against a reasonably well armed population anywhere near as large as the Arabs.

P.S. Hope is not a plan.
