Years later, Bush-Cheney's friends at Exxon were responsible for polluting that gorgeous sound. It made a life-long environmentalist out of me, especiallly after I saw how Exxon was guilty of negligence, did not really care about the environment and lied, lied, lied about it.
Never forget the Exxon Valdez or the dangers of deregulating the oil and polluting chemicals business.

Actually, the Exxon Valdez spill was the result of a captain who was below (possibly drinking) and an inattentive helmsman.

Very tragic, very unfortunate. But it was an accident.

Had nothing to do with any nefarious right wing plot to deregulate the industry and pollute that part of the world.

FWIW, I have a client who has a business in Valdez who to this day suffers adverse economic effects from that spill.
