AER Energy Resources Appoints New Board Member
SMYRNA, Ga., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- AER Energy Resources, Inc. (Nasdaq:AERN), a developer and manufacturer of long-running zinc-air rechargeable batteries, today announced the appointment of James W. Dixon to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Dixon, 50, is president and chief executive offer of Information Technology Consulting, Inc. in Atlanta, a position he has held since 1996. ITC is a subsidiary of HDS Network Systems, Inc. and was formed to acquire companies in the network computer services industry. Mr. Dixon is also president of Bridging Data Technology, Inc., a software products company based in Atlanta in which HDS has a majority ownership position. He is also a member of the board of directors for CompuCom Systems, USData, and HDS.
Between 1988 and 1996, Mr. Dixon served at various times as chairman, president and chief executive officer of CompuCom Systems. Headquartered in Dallas, CompuCom is a well-known provider of desktop computer and network integration services for large corporate customers nationwide.
Mr. Dixon began his computer industry career with IBM, where over a 14-year period he held positions of systems engineer, marketing representative, marketing manager, regional industry manager and branch manager. Prior to 1988, Mr. Dixon was president of operations at A Beeper Company. Both CompuShop and A Beeper were divisions of Bell Atlantic Corporations. Also, he is a former executive vice president of Intermodal Brokerage Services, Inc., a division of Brae Corporation.
Mr. Dixon holds a B.S. in Mechanical engineering from the Louisiana Technical University.

Mr. Dixon joins the existing six-member Board, consisting of: Jon A. Lindseth, chairman and founder of AER Energy Resources and chairman of the Kindt-Collins Company, a foundry supply company; David W. Dorheim, AER Energy's president and CEO; David G. Brown, a vice president of Keystone, Inc., an investment company; William L. Jackson, retired former chairman of Tupperware, Inc.; H. Douglas Johns, chairman and CEO of Monorail, Inc., a computer hardware company; and John L. Wilkes, retired former senior vice president - technology worldwide of Duracell Battery Corporation.
AER Energy Resources, Inc. is engaged in the development and commercialization of high energy density, rechargeable zinc-air batteries that provide long, continuous runtime for portable electronic products. The Company is currently marketing batteries to provide portable computer users a full working day operation on a single charge. The Company also sells zinc- air batteries for mobile satellite telephones, providing up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 50 hours in standby mode.
