Thanks for the tip! I've not read much on Jefferson, but it appears inevitable since I'm interested in Lewis and Clark. All three men are exceedingly complex. I just bought a biography of Clark, and when I read it I'll give a review.

I've read the scientific journals of L&C, and their accomplishments were truly amazing. But for Lewis's sloth after the expedition, they would have first discoveries on hundreds of plants and animals.

Any way you look at it, L&C accomplished what few in history have done. It is a wonderful story quite apart from all that as well.
