These guys are comedians or something. War is peace: <CHINA recently conducted a quiet but important policy debate over the country's strategic direction. In newspapers, magazines, and internal papers, Chinese officials and scholars argued whether the concept of 'China's peaceful rise' (Zhongguo de heping jueqi) should be adopted.

Beginning late last year, senior Chinese leaders and analysts began promoting the notion of 'peaceful rise' (heping jueqi) as 'the new pathway' (xin dao lu) for China in the coming decades.

They will peacefully blow up Taiwan and murder swarms of people. Sounds an excellent strategy to boost production. They obviously have some of those weirdo economists who think that wars are economically productive. So is digging holes and filling them in again. The Easter Islanders had a big GDP of making big heads to ring the island, which were useless, but certainly kept a lot of people busy and no doubt thinking they had a great economy on the go.

Similarly, the Aztecs used to find a lot of gold and hacked a lot of still-beating hearts out of people, which no doubt made the economy look pretty good too. They probably reported excellent production and GDP per capita rise from horror killing of increasing victims and kilograms of gold dug up. But when the Spaniards arrived and push came to shove, the economic merits of gold and human sacrifice were found to be lacking.
