if bush re-elected i just assumed Cheney drops out of vp slot prior to ending his second year. Why about two years?

The question would be, who? They know they need to beat Hillary, she would be the shoo-in candidate. They can't go with Jeb. The country would not stand for it. They don't want a "moderate Republican," but the best candidate, Guliani, is just that. Ridge would be Bush's first choice.
