RUSSIAN PRESIDENT GREETED INTERNATIONAL NUCLEAR ENERGY CONFERENCE

MOSCOW, June 27 (RIA Novosti) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a greeting address to the International Nuclear Energy Conference "Fifty Years of Nuclear Energy - Lessons and Tasks," the Kremlin's press service said on Sunday.

"Contemporary nuclear energy is a growing industry which contributes to the social and economic progress of many states. Its future largely depends on fruitful international cooperation. Therefore, at the UN Millennium Summit Russia proposed to develop an International Nuclear Energy Development Project with the participation of IAEA, based on innovation technologies providing for a comprehensive solution to energy supply and energy security problems," the Russian President's address reads.

"I am sure that ideas and initiatives the conference is going to put on the table will provide better dialogue and international partnership in peaceful use of nuclear energy," the President emphasized.
