my six month synopsis of TGEN

INTRODUCTION Every six months or so I look at my stocks and try a quick explanation of the company and my position. It helps me remember why I hold the stock, reminds me what I want to do with it, and lets me check back for changes. I encourage folks to comment and show me other points of view.

TGEN is a speculative investment that might cure AIDS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Cystic Fibrosis before getting back to curing various cancers. Unfortunately any of that is years away. I think they will make it, and I like the management, but they have some potential hurdles that I consider unsettling. There is a lot of competition for AIDS treatments and vaccines. AMGN might get troublesome about intellectual rights for the arthritis work, which leaves the Cystic Fibrosis work sustaining the company. One clear product in a niche market might not be enough. Then again, any biotech that gets a product to market should end up with a market cap far beyond TGEN's. My doubts will keep me at a HOLD. There is very little reason to sell at these levels. I would only buy based on significant news, and in that case I probably already have enough shares.

DISCLAIMER I am a LTBH to the point of being a HOOH (Hold Out Of Habit). I am also not an expert though I have been investing since about 1976. We've held this stock since 2000.
