The military is largely poor men fighting for rich men. That has always been the case except for the old days when it was considered mandatory for the upper classes to serve in the military. Bush's gang have never served in combat thus they really don't understand what it's all about. Powell does, but he's on the outs with the others.

Anyway, why would you imagine that the underclasses being the main victims of a draft is a "liberal lie"? GW Bush and Cheney proved that if you're rich and powerful you cxan get out of any draft. Kerry could have too but volunteered for combat. That goes to character and real patriotism. Kerry walks the walk, doesn't just talk the talk.
