First of all I never referred to any specific islands, let alone Hawaii, Guam, Midway, etc. etc.. Secondly, there are extensive spans of water with no islands big enough to put on a map. I did in fact look at my trusty globe; in the North Atlantic there is virtually nothing west of the Azores until you hit North America, the South Atlantic has even less, The Pacific Ocean does have a lot of islands out there but the area is so huge there would have to be quite a few gateways for limited population. As for the weather, yes we do have hurricanes even here in the United States. However, sensitive equipment can be erected further inland to avoid the brunt of storms. As for bolts and concrete just ask anyone who has been through a tornado or the people who dealt with hurrican Andrew how much good that did.
My reference to the gateways was merely a means of connection to ground based systems for punching through to the insides of buildings.

Your reference to the potential for M-Star to be easily converted to voice communications once again contradicts earlier statements made by you. You have frequently referred to the expense of changes on the satellites themselves. Obviously, in order to proved voice links on the satellites new birds would have to be launched with this alteration. That is at a minimum quite some time in the future.

Most of our discussions are coming down to a lot of speculation on both sides I will concede that. None of us will no for sure until late 1998.
