What I find disconcerting in general about fundamental analysis is that you get the figures and you can slice them and dice them any way you want. Analysts can use the fundamentals to justify whatever bias they want.
While I want to be aware of the fundamentals in a stock that I'm looking to buy, I want to see that translating into earnings momentum--into beating analyst expectations. I'm not looking at balance sheets. I'm not looking at quality of earnings. I'm looking at the expectations and how is the company doing relative to those expectations. Bottom line: I would say that I'm an expectation person as opposed to a pure technical or pure fundamentals person.
