If the left was actually motivated to vote, we'd never lose an election. I think there are a lot more closet liberals in this country than people realize. 2000 certainly demonstrated that, with the left receiving 3.5 million more votes than the right and still losing the election. The biggest problem Democrats have had over the years is voter apathy. People with Democratic leanings just don't tend to register and vote as much as people on the right. The Republicans, on the other hand, have done an excellent job getting the religious right organized and motivated to vote, and have used other forms of propaganda like Rush Limbaugh to further their cause at the polls.
