A short note. There was a small squib on the net saying that the Korean man had written a friend saying that he and the Iraq woman would be getting married. Presume it is true---may not be.

I guess I don't remember the Taliban killing women----however my friend pointed out that terroists can also be women under the hoods--- so perhaps it would not matter.

You were a little earlier than I during WWII----our family was a defense family at the Martin plant in Baltimore. This really brought home Johnson's death as Martin is of course now Lockheed Martin.

Despite being a toddler I have vivid memories of that time---blackouts-----threat of German (think it was a submarine) in the water-----seeing the planes fly over on missions etc.----playing in the water's edge along the Cheaspeake even though my mother forbid us to go there. I have a picture of the defense trailer we lived in----literally shaped like an airplane with a middle and two wings and of course painted to blend in with surroundings.

The current young Americans have little grasp of what that war was about. The war, however as much as I detest war, served a purpose in furthering science and helping the economy.

You and others on this thread are right----very important to finish the task before us now.
