MJ, There was an incident where the Taliban shot a woman in a stadium (soccer I think) because she slept with a man other than her husband. May not have had anything to do with any war, but is a clear indication of the brutality of many muslims towards women.

My Mother worked at Hughes Tool Co. in Houston, which did something to further the war effort, but I don't know exactly what it was. One of my Aunt's was a riviter in an airplane plant somewhere close to Houston. The man who became my step-dad, turned his upholstery business into the making of sleeping bags for the troops. Everyone did, or tried to, be involved in helping to win the war. Many families planted what they called "victory gardens" to provide their own food.

I can remember the rationing that went on too. Some products were unavailable because they were used by the troops, or the manufacturing process was needed to make something for the armed forces. There were coupons that were used for buying gasoline, and if you ran out before the month was up, you just didn't drive until another month came around. There was meatless Tuesday too. Lucky Strike cigarettes even removed the olive drab circle from around their logo, and advertised saying "Lucky Strike green has gone to war."

WW2 was the last war that was considered to be honorable. After that, they became political.

If the administration had not intended to fight for absolute victory, we never should have gotten involved. I think that was Bush's goal, but most of the rest of the world, and far too many Americans, let him down.
