First of all - political affiliation is not a genetically transmissable trait. Even when you look at upbringing, there are various different factors that affect a vote, so it is not possible to scientifically defend the assertion

I am very confident that the there is a positive correlation between political affiliation of parents and their children.

BTW, you seem to be very selective in your reporting of Dem / Rep voting - and wrong. Republican party has been a minority since FDR, and more so after Watergate. We are at parity now, with GOP controlling the White House, House, Senate, and I believe majority (or at least parity) of governorships and state houses.
