That's a key point about Bush, one that Kevin Phillips discusses at length in his recent book. This "base," as Bush people like to call it, are bloc voters and since these fundamentalist Xtian sects are the fastest growing in the country, they represent an increasingly large percentage of the declining numbers of actual voters. They see Bush as their leader. Not surprisingly, voter registration and getting people to the polls are absolutely critical in the effort to get this guy out of there. The fact is, Bush's base represents a distinct minority of the electorate as a whole. But they are motivated. M2
