<<And... some photographer caught the perfect shot of Bremer leaving. Never mind how I feel about the event, this is just great photography. Wish I could see the original-size version.>>

The time will come when Iraqis recognize a new important National Holiday.

The day when they got their country back, as symbolicaly indicated by Bremer leaving.
Independance Day? The 28 th? the 30th, the 4th?

There was a panorama shot of the Iraqi skyline and someday it will be safe to drive or travel, get away from the packed cities as we do and take vacations.

They can worry less about their relatives being missing when they return, merely for saying the wrong words about Saddam or the government.

Wont have to look at his picture hanging on every power pole along the freeways.

Perhaps some areas like Fallujuh will not be completely safe to visit, but that is also true here.

Which reminds me of the time police stopped me and told me it would not be safe driving a Cadillac thru the city of Watts.

But complete safety is a bit boring, if a military person is never going to get shot at, never going to apply all he has learned and practiced - then why bother with the pain and effort of learning.

He can choose to die slowly and painfully of old age age after assembling cars in a polluted factory for 30 years.

We like a few risks, keeps us awake and challenged.

I found it very inspiring to take a subway in NYC, sit with strangers perhaps armed with guns or knifess, eat some strange food made from heavens knows what critter. Go to places even the police tend to stay way from.
