Jilbey uncovers further gold on Bissa Hill

2004-06-29 08:34 ET - News Release

Mr. Gregory Isenor reports

JILBEY GOLD EXPLORATION LTD.: DRILLING AT BISSA HILL DEPOSIT CONTINUES TO PRODUCE HIGH GRADE GOLD INTERSECTIONS

Jilbey Gold Exploration Ltd. has provided additional high-grade gold assay results from its drilling program on the Bissa Hill deposit located in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Significant drill results from holes 1 through 17 include 5.28 grams per tonne over 41 metres, 4.68 g/t over 40 metres, 5.76 g/t over 16 metres and 5.12 g/t over 19 metres.

The reverse circulation (RC) drill program was designed to define and potentially expand the Bissa deposit (please refer to Stockwatch dated March 8, 2004, May 4, 2004, and May 18, 2004). Assays are available on the first 17 holes of a 34-hole program and significant results are reported in Table 1 below. Drilling has been completed and assay results for the remaining holes should be received in the very near future. To date, 36 core holes and 34 RC holes have been completed, and 36 trenches have been resampled. Prior to initiating the RC program, two RC holes were twinned with core holes and the results compared to gain confidence in the RC results. The product of the grade and thickness returned on the RC holes was within approximately 5 per cent of the core holes and as a result, RC holes were used midway between the core holes drilled to date on 40-metre centres, resulting in a drill pattern on 20-metre centres.

Jilbey controls approximately 1.700 square kilometres around the Bissa gold deposit which is located roughly 150 kilometres southwest of High River Gold Mines' planned Taparko mill. The Bissa group permits cover the Kogkoundi granodiorite intrusive and associated shear zones. The 25-kilometre Sabce shear hosts the Bissa gold deposit and parallels the northwestern edge of the Kogkoundi granodiorite and the 20-kilometre Liliga shear zone parallels the southeastern portion of the intrusive. The 10-kilometre Yilou shear zone cuts the granodiorite and joins the Sabce and Liliga shear zones. The corporation reported significant gold intersections from drilling these three different shear zones. Highlights included 8.56 g/t Au over 13.7 metres, 2.5 g/t over 30.6 metres and 4.13 g/t Au over 16.35 metres. Greg Isenor, president of Jilbey, stated: "There is excellent potential to significantly expand the Bissa deposit and this area is fast developing into a major gold exploration play for Jilbey. We are extremely encouraged by the significant grades and intercept widths we are continuing to report." Please refer to the Jilbey website at www.jilbey.com for additional information and previous press releases and drill results from the Bissa project.

Sampling of the RC drilling is completed over one-metre intervals. Approximately 20 kilograms of cuttings are recovered for each interval. The RC chips are logged and bagged at the drill site. From each original sample, a subsample of 2,000 grams is produced, using a single-stage Jones riffle splitter and repeated passes with the final subsample being systematically obtained from the right side of the splitter. Samples obtained are placed in individual plastic bags. All sampling tools are cleaned between samples. The RC rejects are stored at Jilbey's guarded camp. Preparation and gold analysis of the drilling samples are performed at Abilab West Africa SARL in Bamako, Mali. Samples are analyzed for gold by fire assay on 50-gram subsample with an atomic absorptions spectroscopy (AAS) finish. A gravimetric finish is performed systematically on samples containing more than five g/t Au. In addition to the usual internal laboratory quality assurance and quality control data, sample grind size data are monitored by Jilbey staff to insure proper pulverization. During the current drilling campaign, Jilbey has implemented a comprehensive QA/QC program which includes inserting a minimum of 10 per cent control samples (5 per cent blanks and 5 per cent standards) in the sample stream. Blind repeat assaying at the original laboratory and check assaying at a North American accredited laboratory are planed at the end of the drilling campaign. Greg Isenor, PGeo, president and chief executive officer of Jilbey Gold Exploration Ltd., a qualified person as defined under the Canadian Securities Administrators' National Instrument 43-101, is responsible for program supervision.
