<<<PS: <In reality it is to everyones interest if disputes are settled through negotiations - with each side compromising. > Such a cliche sounds good, but when people like Saddam are on the other side of the negotiating table, compromise isn't an option [he would simply shoot anyone who tried negotiating with him, or even looked as though they might]. Try being a Jew in one of the Nazi concentration camps and see how well negotiating a compromise works.>>>

The funny thing is, I probably agree with you more often than I agree with anyone else on SI. But its where I disagree with you that is troubling.

The fortunate part is there are a lot more people like Saddam and Nazi types out there (in every day life) and in this world but who do not have the power to get away with getting what they want like Sadddam or the Nazi types.

That only goes to show that humans are getting smarter (more savvy) all the time and the Saddams and Nazi types will have a tougher time getting into power as time goes on.

So the real answer is to prevent these people from getting into positions of power so we can avoid the messy problem of killing them to get them out of power.

By letting these people get in power and then having to kill them is like locking the doors to the barn after the cows have been stolen.
