Reading National Review in a public school today is a ticket to expulsion-the union teacher foaming at the mouth as he marches the kid out the door. That merely exposes the pathetic weakness of the intellectually-bankrupt left today, thanks to the life-long courage of Bill Buckley.

When we were told to choose a book to read in junior high, I brought in "Up From Liberalism". My favorite, to this day, has been "The Unmaking of a Mayor: 1965".

Bill Buckley showed a nation under assault by the insanity of Marxist-Leninism, elite liberal arrogance, and pure Cold War FEAR, that it could-indeed MUST-remain free.

His writings from the 60's have much to teach us today, and should be REQUIRED reading for anyone applying for a teacher's certificate anywhere. He inspired Reagan, Rush, and a generation that is on the verge, today, of winning the 30+-year-old domestic war.

Wm F. Buckley Jr. officially retired from National Review on Tuesday. But don't worry. The kids in charge there today learned his most important lesson: Take NO prisoners.
