Scientist Sees Space Elevator in 15 Years

The space elevator idea has long been popular with the sci fi geeks. I used to think it was the most ridiculously far fetched and ludicrous idea ever. But we're approaching the point where we actually have the materials, in carbon nanotubes, to do it.

Can you imagine riding a ribbon almost a third of the way to the Moon? Pretty out there concept.
