JF, Ha-Yun Jung does an excellent job capturing the sentiment of most Koreans.

He did, however, fail to completely answer why Roh Moo-Hyun, a left-leaning populist, agreed to send troops. One ought to ask Jung why Koreans still want America's military presence on the peninsula. The answer, of course, is that Koreans want it both ways: security for their homeland without the burdens of allianceship. I can understand that attitude, but unfortunately reality doesn't seem to be in Korea's "national interest."
