Ted, One more time.........the day after the attack, Spanish intel said it was al Qa'ida.

Big deal. It wasn't too long after 9/11 that we knew it was Al Qaeda. Aznar should have listened to Spanish intel, but instead followed his own hunch, which proved to be part of his downfall.

All of this is still hindsight, though. It's very easy to "connect the dots" after the fact, but it's orders of magnitude harder to do so before the bombs go off. Of course, now our efforts to "connect the dots" have led to many "Orange Alert" false alarms, which of course has the effect of crying wolf.

Face it, we're not going to stop terrorism with merely better intelligence. True, we'll need it anyway, but unless you have bonifide psychics working for the CIA (a la Minority Report), it's never going to be enough because we prefer not living in a Big Brother police state.
