mph there's gun control and then there's gun control.
I am for the banning of certain weapons, such as M-16's and AK-47's, their knock-offs and the like to the general public.
The only purpose there could be for those is not deer hunting to say the least.

Now.... I am for the sale of hand guns and rifles that cannot be altered to go full automatic.
I'm a gun lover, and have owned some sweet ones.
My current choice is my Baretta 92FS. It is within 18"of where I sleep. It's the current NATO hand gun, and also many police folks, as well as our military. It is semi-automatic.
It replaced the Browning High Power years ago, which I also owned, for a few reasons, mainly the Baretta is double action, and it so very well built. The Browning, which is what Saddam was arrested with is single action.
I always keep mine condition 3, which means there is one in the chamber, 15 in the clip, with safety off.

The military loves it as you can tell if it's on safety and if there is a round in the chamber by feeling it's side... in the dark.
You can break it down in the dark with a little practice, and never ever jams. Well mostly never ever. Mine has not, and I've fired it many rounds.

So I guess it is a matter of degree to me.
