Our liberal attorney son-in-law and the family were in DC today for the next few days....DC is evidently very very buttoned down security wise, and he was upset...Couldn't see all parts of the monuments, nor the Capitol, nor the WH.... I mentioned to him that as he knew the 4th was coming, there are major events planned for the Holiday there, there are terrorists threats to consider, and as hard as it was, we all had a choice.

We could all continue hiding our head in the sand, and pretend nothing was going on around us. Or we could grow up, and consider we're all doing the best we can in a difficult situation.

I did remind him that from my experience in DC, with heavy security type events happening (Columbine, Oklahoma City bombing, NATO 50th Anniversary, and WTO all happened while I was there various years)...that DC was probably the very safest place to be right now, other than the middle of Montana.

He groused, but admitted I was probably right.
