hi Jane - nooooooooooooo...my favorite writer.. still recall him hobbling onto sone late night talk show, I think it was Tom something or other(no longer on), and he was cursing, funny as hell
but I did run into him once, got a book or two signed
and then met an ex of his and Durrell's. love that Alexandria Quartet, though it is so long... but led me to Cavafy's poetry which is great
