the point I am trying to make that no one will acknowledge here is that the investor class, who are people that BID UP these tech stocks in the 90s, and who are also very likely close to the technology industry either as white collar workers or users, need to feel good about the industry and its prospects in order to invest. Chinese laborers in Penang do not buy nas stocks.

Many of the remaining tech stocks are immensely profitable now. But the stocks aren't moving, nor will they. It isn't because internet infrastructure is mature (it isn't- how many US citizens have FTTP anyway? The USA buildout is way behind asia)... the reason the stock market is in a funk is because these tech companies treated their investors poorly. This includes the employees of the companies in question, who were offshored out of their profession, their customers who were also encouraged to offshore IT out of sight out of mind (there goes the incentive to buy "the latest and greatest" technology) and all that was left was institutions who don't like the options culture.

Net net, technology stocks are going to be dead for years.
