well mindmeld, since this last recession, where we lost over 3 million jobs (way over 3 million actually) we have not been able to create the measly 150K/month to keep the boat afloat. Don't you think it is convenient that the fed now says 150K is not required when that has been the bellwether number for job growth for the last 15 years? We had NO PROBLEM creating 300K jobs month after month in the early 90s.

The bottom line is, we lost all the infotech jobs with offshoring and we have nothing to take up the slack. Ask any college recruiter there are NO jobs for the new graduates.

I'm tired of all these excuses for this poor economic performance. IF things were rosy the stock market would be on fire vs. in this funk for a YEAR.

Silicon Valley braces for steep revenue declines
Silicon Valley is bracing for even deeper cuts to community programs after politicians announced Friday that property values and tax revenues had shrunk dramatically for the second straight year.

The Santa Clara County Assessor's Office said the assessed prices of industrial and commercial property in San Jose -- the nation's 11th largest city and epicenter of the global technology industry -- fell below prices that owners paid for them. When that happens, a state law goes into effect that allows owners to pay taxes on the lower value.
