Since nationalism to a great extent is just like a religious feeling, it doesn't matter if it makes sense. As long as you can believe it, you believe it- and like any religion, facts don't matter. That's the way it is with belief. It makes people amazingly strong, but it can also make them amazingly wrong. Not a good combo. Thought I grant you- zealots have always made magnificent killers.
