Lisa, what you need is a 17inch monitor or better, a 200mz+ pentium, or AMD, pc clone, 32 megs ram, 2.5 gig drive (best price point now), a 4 meg video card Matrox ok and cheap, a 20X cd for those off line moments, and either a 56k modem connect or call your local telco and find out what an ISDN line costs... not that bad if you surf alot or insist on instant response. Get a backup tape or hd mechanism also. Make sure your new mouse is sturdy and dosen't squeak... Get it locally if you can with an in writing replacment while being repaired policy.
You might also want a new voice card for voice input, WinNT, a good power protection and you're cruising. You might want a faster processor, more ram, a scsi card, and toaster port for doing english muffins. |
