That the Kurds were gassed and slaughtered en mass was a despicable act to be sure. That Saddam killed a lot of Iraqi citizens to achieve political goals is indisputable too.

However how does this truly differ from Bush, who has killed mass numbers of Iraqis with "WMD's light" (J-dams, 500 lb bombs, etc) to achieve his political goals?

It amazes me that Bush has gotten off so lightly (so far) for waging as war of aggression against what was a peaceful country. It seems its OK to send 500 lb bombs into crowded slums so long as Kimmet describes them as "terrorists". Women and children, however, always seem to make up a portion of the dead. Obviously thousands of innocents have been slaughtered and maimed by the US military – the ugly side of war. And thats not mentioning the US soldiers dead and maimed.

Saddam was at it for 30 years so his numbers are likely higher (human beings killed) but at the pace Bush has been going, if he kept at it for 30 years, he would easily out do Saddam. Yet Bush is supported because he is President and it's assumed what he doing is on the side of right. But he lied about WMDs - so is all the killing anymore justified than Saddam's killing? IMO the killing is wrong period - even if it's the US military.

Two politicians willing to waste human life to achieve their political aims. Are they really so different???

It's as if Bush is saying "my killing is ok because I come from a democratic country". He may have higher moral grounds based on this but I still think all the killing and destruction is wrong no matter who is doing it.

It does seem somewhat ironic that one of the charges aginst Saddam is that he waged war of aggression aginst peaceful nations. That is a bad thing but it's indisputable that its exactly the same thing the US has done against Iraq. Its now a proven fact Iraq had no WMD - the reason for invasion. That "we" didn't like Saddam and his system isn't reason enough to have invaded. Europeans for the most part don't like Bush and his politics - doesn't mean they have the right to invade the USA!
