LOL, Ish! Nah. It's because of the "not 100%" qualification. I don't know what to say about these novels you refer to that use demur and are about romancing homosexuals. Is there some possibility, do you feel, that someone will be requiring you to romance a homosexual? Will it be a Democrat? If someone tries to do that, feel free to demur, I say, and then call the cops. Seriously, though, folks. I just googled demure and romance novels just for the hell of it and see that a lot of people who are interested in romance novels think 'demure' is spelled with only one e.
