As with Cree's latest numbers hopefully bottom line number improvement here.

SEMI news snip-Overall factory utilization continued to increase, rising from 92 percent in Q4 2003 to 94 percent in Q1. For leading-edge manufacturers, capacity utilization rates are currently at 99 percent, according to the industry group.

MPU sales were strong across the board, with SIA pointing especially to wireless. Demand there for DSPs, optoelectronics devices and application-specific standard products was very strong, the group said, noting high sales of cellular phones with enhanced display, imaging and data capabilities.

Regionally, semiconductor sales were up everywhere, except Europe, with the strongest growth coming from the Asia-Pacific region, which rose by 4.5 percent sequentially.
