Given that I am not Catholic, though with three Catholic godchildren I probably qualify as a member of the extended family, I am always hesitant to comment on the policies of the Catholic Church. However, I do agree with you that the Church appears to have found it expedient to take a pass on the issue. Just like they have chosen to take a pass on the issue of birth control. It is probably a combination of economics as well as the realization that they no longer have any real authority over their parishioners. Kerry's statement was rather surprising. I think that it will dog him.
