Ever hear of the following joke: Question is what is 1 plus 1 equal? 1st interviewee, smartly answers 2 2nd interviewee, figuring this is too easy there must be a trick to it answers 3. 3rd and final interviewee, looks carefully at the tester and in all sincerity answers, "What number did you have in mind"? Guess who got the job? Point is figures can be made to look like anything you want them to say. The article you referenced gives one reason, it skips another one, that is as follows: In an economic recovery business's DO NOT hire people back immediately, instead they use OVERTIME to make up the slack UNTIl they are CONVINCED the recovery is certain and lasting, then they begin to hire, reducing overtime and increasing STRAIGHT TIME. That is likely a big reason why AVERAGE hourly wages have dropped now back to what they were BEFORE the recovery got up steam. The truth is and what isnt in that article is that fully 1/3 of the new jobs HAVE been in high tech industry and well paying. jdn
