The Real American Spirit! My wife is getting clothes ready for our vacation and I am resting from an afternoon of jousting with our yard and trees. Oprah is on in the background. I am basically disgusted - but. Oprah brings on a kid with deformed arms and legs who has accomplished much. The kids' hero is Cal Ripken - guess what - Cal made the trip to Chicago to present the kid with a bat. Damn - it really touched me. A few years ago my wife and I were at an Indians game just after Cal set the consecutive game record. He walked around the entire packed house of Jacob's field to cheers from one and all. I cheered him then - but wow - this thing today was fantastic! Go Cal! Cal Ripken is the real Spirit of America!!! Positive, genteel and a example for all to follow!
