According to the law, anyone who is guilty of any crime has to face the consequences or justice, in short. No IFs and BUTs about that!
But, sometimes the law can be an ass with the result that the guilty party/parties get off scot-free and the innocent(s) get punished unduly. This sort of thing has happened quite a number of times before in various countries. Sometimes, the forces that be conspire to punish an innocent victim for self-serving or expedient reasons. At other times, justice had gone askew as in the exoneration of General Raoul Salan, France's top general, for his execution of the Indo China (Vietnam) War that ended in 1954.
Considering the fact that Uncle Sam's hands are not entirely "clean" in the matter, might there be some extenuating circumstances.........? And unexpected twists and turns that might make justice look like it is going askew again?
By the way, from the apparent over-eagerness with which the US and Britain invaded Iraq, it seems reasonable to say that Saddam was demonized to justify the invasion of Iraq. I am just very curious to know to what extent Saddam was demonized, if that ever occurred at all. You see, I don't swallow everything hook-line-and-sinker the media dole out to the public. |
