Darren and Sam,

I think you are right on with the electrostatic analysis. My belief is that there are only a few sweet spots in the market and that electrostatic fits into the "must have the fastest and the bestest" catagory. They need to get their 5000 into the $20K range within a year to kill the Encad ProE series and release a 2X faster device within 6 months in the $30K range. I think we are seeing the beginning of a serious better-faster-cheaper phase in this immature market. Piezo is poised very well technologically, I hope RGFX is up to it business wise. I think they are finally getting their mktg and dist together.

HP is releasing outdoor media and UV pigment inks any day now if not already according to statements by HP when they released the 2000 series. HP has an awesome product but crappy mktg. I frequently see a lack of knowledge by HP reps. They need to hurry up with consumables and derivitive products.

I think Encad has crappy products but superior mktg. Cheap stuff cheap, no one does it cheaper. That was good at first, enabled the market to explode, but their technology is WAY behind Piezo and HP TIJ. If other companies get their doodoo together, Encad is in trouble.
