Kerry was faced with a difficult choice of VP. Edwards is a good pick. Gephardt is a serial loser. Biden has plagarism baggage. McCain wasn't interested.
The Republicans will attack him as being a trial lawyer and light on experience. I think this can be countered by pointing out that Bush was light on expereince. I don't think the trial lawyer condemnation will have any traction.
Edwards is a very positive guy. If I were Kerry, I'd have Edwards stumping full time in WV, VA, NC, MO, ARK, LA and FL. These are states where either Bush or Kerry is weakly ahead. His southerness will appeal there. His bootstrapped up from millworker parents will resonate.
Long term, 8 years as VP will give him the seasoning needed to give us 16 years of Democratic Presidents. America's best times are ahead of us.
