There is a reason for that fear. I can name 7 major genocides in the 20th century that happened after people were disarmed. In addition to that we now have the crime experiences of both the UK and Australia to show the increase in violent crime due to failed gun control programs that are the equivalent of disarming the cops and arming the criminals.
