The international community knew that the inspectors had been relatively effective despite all the obstacles. That is why inspectors were back in Iraq trying to recreate the intelligence needed to make a more accurate assessment of the status of unaccounted for weapons. You can slander them all you like, but the UN inspectors did an outstanding job under the very difficult circumstances -- and they did it without killing tens of thousands of people.
