Researcher forecasts growth for high-end analog devices By Stephan Ohr , PlanetAnalog July 06, 2004 URL: eetimes.com
SAN FRANCISCO — A new study from Databeans Inc. estimates the use of high-performance parts will rise more than 30 percent annually. High-speed analog revenue is estimated at $8.2 billion in 2003, roughly 23 percent of the $36 billion analog market.
High-performance analog products include high-speed amplifiers and data converters, high-resolution data converters and efficient power management. Examples of products include high-speed LVDS interface, high-resolution, application-specific mixed signal parts used in basestations, highly efficient Class D audio power amplifiers used in consumer electronics and efficient switching regulator ICs.
Applications include broadband and wireless, consumer electronics, computers, industrial equipment, medical electronics and vehicle entertainment systems. Major players in the high-speed linear market include Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Maxim Integrated Products, National Semiconductor, Intersil and Linear Technology.
In 2003, high-speed linear sales rose 32.7 percent over the previous year, according to the market researchers (Reno, Nev.). Databeans found that the high-speed linear market is experiencing even stronger demand this year. Databeans expects sales to increase by over 33 percent for 2004. Longer term, the market for high-speed linear should continue to advance with an average annual growth rate of 16 percent through 2009, Databeans said |
