I do not know why the Pentagon has their collective heads in the sand over this. I am glad to see Congress taking the lead and forcing the issues surrounding troop strength and deployments.

My guess is that the GOP does not want this hot potato on the table before November 3rd. There are too many Moms out there who would vote kerry if they thought it would keep their son out of uniform. My sister is one of them. I am guessing there are many others like her.
