Disney settles patent suit with OpenTV

LOS ANGELES, July 7 (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS - News) has settled a suit by Internet and television technology company OpenTV Corp. (NasdaqNM:OPTV - News), agreeing to pay royalties for a nonexclusive license to disputed patents, the companies said on Wednesday.
They did not announce financial terms of the deal, which also covers Disney subsidiaries ABC and ESPN. The technology in question relates to allowing television viewers to access information about broadcast programs on the Internet. The patents are held by OpenTV unit ACTV.
