To make it clear and without offence to the populations of all these countries your sentence should written more like:

Baltic Republics were simply allowed to be integrated as part of Soviet Union. Ukraine was part of Soviet Union by choice long before WWII. Yugoslavia was independent, more pro-western than pro USSR. Poland who was fighting Nazis from day one to the last one on all possible fronts formed fourth largest army in the coalition right after USSR, US and Britain and was betrayed by Roosevelt in worst possible way when he encourage them to start Warsaw upraising promising everything, delivering nothing, but behind the closed doors the deal was done between him and Stalin that upraising was doomed from the beginning so the Stalin would face less opposition as the best commanders of Polish resistance were killed among 200.000 civilians in the fight for the city . That story and facts are straight from recent CNN broadcast 'Warsaw upraising" I don't even blame as much Roosevelt, Churchill or Stalin. Being naive and stupid when it comes to politics is this nation long tradition which continue till now. The sarcastic part of Polish tragedy was that US and UK gave the status of superpower to French who were sitting on the fence during the war and on few occasions went against Brits and US. So don't be shocked that I'm in favor of fair trial for Saddam and IMO he should be tried in Hague not in Iraq under US influence as I don't like the true to be published some 60 years after.
